Street closing Sunday along waterfront

March 13th, 2010 Kevin Koss No comments

This weekend marks the first of nine planned Sunday Streets events that will be held through October. Two new routes have been added this year: the Western Addition, North Panhandle and Japantown on Sept. 19, followed by street closures in Civic Center and the Tenderloin on Oct. 24. Once again, Sunday Streets will take place in the Mission, the Bayview and the Great Highway in the spring and summer.

The Wide World of Snacks: taquitos.net

February 15th, 2010 Kevin Koss No comments

I stumbled upon this website that is just about snacks. Pretty fascinating. This guy now makes his living from reviewing snacks. He goes on snack tours. And thank god, otherwise, where else are you going to learn all about Bacorns?

Found this website today by Panoramics. You can tour around and see Burning Man in a virtual 360 degree world. Pretty cool. Makes me want a bottle of water though.

I Love Ted

February 10th, 2010 Kevin Koss No comments

TED is a unique conference that showcases speakers from all walks of life.   Their motto is “Ideas Worth Spreading”. You can watch previous speeches on their website and I have enjoyed many thought provoking speeches from artists, scientists, and even chefs!

Each year they give a TED prize to somebody and that person gets to have their wish come true. One year Bono won and his wish was to give a computer to every child in Ethiopia (I think) which led to the creation of one.org.

This week David Byrne, Bill Gates and Stewart Brand will all speak. Check it out!

Walkshed – What’s in Walking Distance?

October 9th, 2009 Kevin Koss No comments

This is a cool new service I just found called walkshed.org. It allows you to put in an address and see how far coffee shops, restaurants, farmer’s markets, and other things are from the address you put in. Right now only for Philly. Check it out.
