For those of you who follow the whole debate around street food in SF….the NYTimes has a great article on the debate.
There is also a new website for the San Francisco Cart Project. The debate centers around whether it is unfair to restaurants who have to abide by city rules and whether these carts are taking away their customers. My take? They should stop whining and get carts of their own! Take the food to the people.
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to a wonderfully innovative local street food culture that is growing extremely quickly through its combination of technology and mobile, sustainable, food. The SF Cart Project seeks to complement the research of people interested in starting, or expanding, a street food business of their own by providing a relevant central resource for documents, information and community awareness regarding the often confusing (and occasionally contradictory) process of starting and running a legal mobile food business in the Bay Area.

Say whaaaa? The Advocate ran a story about the gayest cities in America and San Francisco is not on the list. The criteria:
- Same sex couple households per capita
- Statewide marriage equality
- Gay elected officials
- Some metric about how many men vs the number of gay profiles on dating sites
- Gay bars per capita
- Gay films in Netflix top categories
The top five are Atlanta, Burlington, Vt, Iowa City, Bloomington, Ind, and Madison, Wis. Interesting. How about just gay population? They fail to consider that. Of course!!! Because then San Francisco would win. Right? I think so…..right? Ok, I am not sure about that either.
However, I know for sure if you add these criteria San Francisco will win:
- Frequency at which you see roller skating drag queen nuns
- Number and frequency of sightings of skinny gay men wearing short shorts when temperature is below 50 and foggy
- The number of bus stops you might see a guy who looks like Ted Kaczynski wearing a prairie dress and bonnet (note to San Franciscans….look around the room and say “you’ve seen that guy too right?”)
- The density and number of shops selling giant dildos and scented candles on the same block
- Length of lines to get into beer bashes on Sunday afternoons
- The straight events in your city must include at least one bathtub race in the nude
- Level to which you can wear ass-less chaps and not be beaten to death or arrested
- The size of your pink triangle and/or gay flag.
Seriously. Who has the biggest gay flag? The biggest pink triangle? Sorry Advocate. San Francisco remains and always will be the gayest city in America.
We hereby demand a retraction.

It's about the size of your flag (beyattch)

Another Criteria: Can your gayness be seen from space?
The MTA received aproval from the Federal Transit Administration on Thursday to enter into Final Design for the Central Subway project. It will still be almost two years before Muni could receive a full grant for the subway, which is now expected to cost $1.6 billion, with service currently expected to begin in 2018. Find out more.
If you are familiar with the 3rd St. line, you know it goes around the Embarcadero. This new route takes it underground I believe at 4th St, or slightly thereafter. Then to Moscone, Union Square and Chinatown. So if you live in the South East portion of the city, it will be a quick way across town.

A very cool article in the NY Times today. They show you the top 10 DVD rentals for your zip code in the Bay Area.
Check out Potrero Hill!

A great article on Mashable today about blogs that became books.
Who is next?
Yeah I went…and yeah I screamed until my voice was hoarse. You can’t not have fun at a Kiss concert.
Check out this trailer. This is along the lines of Blair Witch Project, only this is suppose to be way scarier. Check out the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
